Purchased in France, this vintage mid century fashion illustration reflects the unmistakable influence of the late René Gruau, whose minimalist and sculptural lines defined created a unique elegance. While the style closely echoes Gruau’s iconic aesthetic, the signature  is not an original work by the artist, but a period illustration created in the spirit of that tradition.
It is an ink and wash drawing on paper, framed with a dark mat and a gold-toned frame. PLEASE NOTE.  With the use of watercolours on this paper, there is a ripple effect as shown on the attached image, which spans around the hat.  It becomes noticable depending on which way you are looking at it.
