Mid Century René Gruau style print

This is one of a pair of prints purchased in France.  It is s vintage mid century fashion illustration reflecting the influence of the late René Gruau, whose minimalist and sculptural lines defined created a unique elegance. While the style closely echoes Gruau’s iconic aesthetic, there is no signature and is not an original work by the artist, but a period illustration created in the spirit of that tradition, marked as print # 127.
It is an ink and wash drawing on paper, framed with a dark mat and a gold-toned frame. The confident, minimal linework, angled hat, and single accent of red at the lips, the composition feels sculptural. Timeless and refined, this print captures the enduring allure of classic French fashion illustration which were used for magazines, advertisements or as art prints in the 1950s and 1960’s
PLEASE NOTE.  With the use of watercolours on this paper, there is a ripple effect as shown on the attached image, which spans around the hat.  It becomes noticable depending on which way you are looking at it.
